Self Employed Earnings and Tax calculator, July 2000
This was a neat way of solving a client service problem faced by local government officers. It was custom made and is currently used by around 80 caseworkers calculating student entitlement to social security benefits for Haringey Local Authority.
It calculates gross and net profit, tax, national insurance and converts them to a weekly figure. It uses Visual Basic for Applications and originates from a simple Excel Spreadsheet to make it widely accessible.
